About

FancyZones-style custom zone editor for macOS 15+. Create pixel-perfect tile layouts with multi-monitor profile detection and automatic switching. One-click backup, per-profile shortcuts, and Always Active Mode for instant window snapping. Privacy-focused with offline operation.

Who It's For

TilesWM is for multi-monitor power users who want FancyZones-style custom layouts on macOS, with automatic profile detection for different display configurations. If you regularly switch between a laptop-only setup, a dual-monitor office configuration, and a single 4K display at home, TilesWM detects each configuration and switches to the matching layout profile automatically — no manual reconfiguration needed. It requires macOS 15 Sequoia and is free.

How It Works

TilesWM provides a visual tile layout editor where you draw pixel-perfect custom zones on a representation of your display. Each display configuration (identified by the combination of connected monitors) gets its own layout profile. Always Active Mode keeps snap detection running permanently, so windows snap when you drag them near a zone boundary without pressing any modifier key. Per-profile keyboard shortcuts let you assign different keys to the same zone position across different monitor configurations. The app stores all data locally with no external connections.

Compared to Similar Tools

Compared to MacsyZones (free), TilesWM adds automatic multi-monitor profile switching and pixel-perfect zone control, but requires macOS 15 vs. MacsyZones' macOS 13 minimum. Compared to BentoBox ($9), TilesWM is free and adds profile auto-detection, though BentoBox's zone editor may be more intuitive for quick layout creation. For users on the latest macOS who frequently change monitor setups, TilesWM's automatic profile switching is a meaningful productivity feature.
