About
Rectangle plus cursor gestures (throw windows), custom snap areas, window groups, app-specific settings.
Who It's For
Rectangle Pro is for users who've outgrown Rectangle's fixed snap positions and want custom zone layouts, cursor gestures, and per-app rules — without committing to the full complexity of BetterTouchTool. It's the natural upgrade path from Rectangle: same developer, same familiar keyboard shortcuts, but with paid features unlocked. If you spend meaningful time arranging windows and want a "coding" zone that's wider than half the screen, or a "reading" layout that differs from your "writing" layout, Rectangle Pro delivers that at a low one-time cost.
Beyond Rectangle's standard halves/thirds/quarters, Rectangle Pro adds a custom zone editor where you draw arbitrary snap regions on your display. These zones activate when you drag a window to a hotspot area or via cursor gestures — move the mouse pointer near a screen edge, hold a modifier key, and the window under the cursor snaps to that zone. Window Groups let you save a multi-window arrangement by name and recall it with a shortcut. Per-app settings control which windows default to which zones. iCloud sync keeps your zones and shortcuts consistent across Macs.
Compared to free Rectangle, Rectangle Pro adds custom zones, cursor gestures, window groups, and per-app settings for $9.99 one-time. Users who only need halves and thirds have no reason to pay; users wanting FancyZones-style custom layouts do. Compared to BentoBox ($9) and MacsyZones (free), Rectangle Pro's zone editor is simpler but integrates more cleanly with Rectangle's existing shortcut vocabulary. Compared to BetterTouchTool ($22 lifetime), Rectangle Pro is more focused — window snapping only, no trackpad customization or automation engine.
