About
Mosaic displays interactive layout panels whenever you drag a window — drop onto a zone to instantly snap it into place. Supports fully custom layout creation, Layout Groups for switching entire workflow arrangements, Auto Layout for per-app position memory, and Quick Positions for rapid edge/corner snapping. Includes a Touch Bar integration and an iOS companion app for remote control.
Who It's For
Mosaic is for users who want visual, drag-first window management with deep layout customization. Its defining interaction is the layout panel overlay — whenever you start dragging a window, Mosaic fades in an interactive panel over the screen showing all your defined snap zones. Drop the window onto a zone and it snaps there instantly. This makes snap targets discoverable and large enough to hit accurately, compared to the thin edge zones used by Rectangle or Magnet.
How It Works
Mosaic's layout panels appear automatically on drag start, showing your zones as named, clickable regions. Beyond the basic snap positions, it supports Layout Groups — named sets of layouts you can switch between to completely restructure your snap configuration for different workflows (a "wide screen" group vs. a "dual portrait" group). Auto Layout per-app automatically applies a saved position whenever a specific application opens. Multi-monitor setups have independent panel layouts per display. An iOS companion app provides remote control of your Mac's window positions from a phone or tablet.
Compared to Similar Tools
Compared to Moom ($10), Mosaic has a more visual, drag-centric interaction model while Moom's green button hover is more keyboard-friendly. Both support saved layouts, but Mosaic adds the iOS remote app and per-app auto layout. Mosaic costs £14.99 vs. Moom's $10. Compared to Rectangle Pro ($9.99), Mosaic's strength is in the drag-and-drop visual overlay and Layout Groups; Rectangle Pro has cursor gestures. For users who primarily arrange windows by dragging rather than keyboard shortcuts, Mosaic provides the most polished drag experience in this category.
