About

Smart window layouts with multiple tiling modes. Replaces Cmd+Tab and Cmd+` with intuitive, lightning-fast window switching. Dock preview shows all windows on hover with multi-monitor support. Currently in beta with free access.

Who It's For

Tangrid is for users who want intelligent window tiling combined with a substantially improved window switching experience. Its standout features are: multiple tiling layout modes that arrange windows automatically, a replacement for Cmd+Tab that shows all windows (not just per-app) with a visual preview, and a Dock hover behavior that shows all windows for an app as thumbnails. Currently in public beta with free access. If the default macOS switcher feels limited and you want tiling alongside improved navigation, Tangrid addresses both.

How It Works

Tangrid's tiling engine automatically arranges windows in the active Space using a configurable layout mode — the specific algorithm adjusts based on the number and type of windows present. The Cmd+Tab replacement intercepts the system shortcut and presents a full-screen window grid sorted by recency, with live previews. Dock hover shows all open windows for the hovered app as thumbnail previews in a popup, similar to Windows' taskbar previews. Multi-monitor setups get independent tiling layouts per display.

Compared to Similar Tools

Compared to yabai (mature, BSP-focused tiling), Tangrid is in beta and adds the enhanced window switcher that yabai doesn't touch. Compared to AeroSpace (i3-style, keyboard-only), Tangrid is more visual and mouse-accessible. The intelligent tiling approach — adapting the layout automatically — distinguishes it from tools where you explicitly control the layout algorithm. As a beta product, evaluate stability before adopting as a primary tool.

Requirements
