About

SizeUp is a proven window manager that has been working reliably for over 8 years. One-time purchase with no recurring fees. Provides keyboard-driven window management with support for vertical and horizontal halves, quarters, and multi-monitor setups.

Who It's For

SizeUp is for Mac users who want a proven, no-frills keyboard-driven snap manager with a one-time purchase and no subscription. It predates most of the tools on this list and has accumulated years of macOS compatibility across OS updates — if longevity and stability matter more than feature completeness, SizeUp has a track record that newer tools don't. At $12.99, it sits above free alternatives like Rectangle but offers the reliability of sustained commercial maintenance.

How It Works

SizeUp registers global keyboard shortcuts that move and resize the focused window to standard positions: left and right halves, top and bottom halves, all four corner quarters, and fullscreen. Multi-monitor support includes shortcuts to move the focused window to the next or previous display. There are no snap areas, no custom zones, and no configuration beyond remapping the default shortcuts — SizeUp covers the standard positions and does so consistently.

Compared to Similar Tools

Compared to Rectangle (free), SizeUp is functionally similar for core positions but costs $12.99. Rectangle also adds drag-to-snap that SizeUp lacks. The practical case for SizeUp over Rectangle is primarily its longevity — if you've used SizeUp for years and it works correctly, there's little reason to change. For new users, Rectangle's free price and drag-to-snap support make it the stronger starting point. Compared to Magnet ($5.99, App Store), SizeUp is more expensive but distributed directly rather than through the App Store, which some users prefer.
