About
Customizable Dock replacement with window snapping, previews, app launcher, layout memory.
Who It's For
Sidebar is for Mac users who want to replace the default Dock with a vertical sidebar panel that integrates window management directly. If you prefer having your app launcher and window management in one place — and want live window previews while you arrange them — Sidebar combines a Dock replacement with snap zones, window previews, and layout memory into a $21 one-time purchase.
How It Works
Sidebar adds a vertical panel to the edge of your screen that functions as a Dock replacement: it shows running apps, allows launching new ones, and displays window thumbnails on hover. Snap zones activate when you drag a window toward the sidebar or screen edges. Window previews in the sidebar show live thumbnails of open windows for quick visual navigation. Layout memory saves window positions per-app and restores them on relaunch.
Compared to Similar Tools
Compared to Moom ($10) or Rectangle (free) as standalone window managers, Sidebar adds a Dock replacement layer that those tools don't touch. If you want to replace the Dock entirely and get window management in the same package, Sidebar is a distinctive option. At $21, it's more expensive than the dedicated window managers alone — the value comes from the Dock replacement integration.
